Luke 11:1
King James Version (KJV)
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
We can learn how to pray through knowledge or we can learn through experience. If we are learning through knowledge, we have to understand that our knowledge must come from the “Word of God”. If we are to pray from experience, that means we must take “time” praying and we must “practice prayer” in our own personal lives.
We have to understand that God expects us as believers to pray. We have to realize that prayer is a part of what God tells us when He tells to put on His armor.
Ephesians 6:18
King James Version (KJV)
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Jesus said that whatever we ask the Father in His name … God will give it to us. We are to go to the Father in the name of Jesus. Understanding that the Father established a principle concerning the name of Jesus. He said every knee shall bow of “things” in heaven and “things” in earth. So that includes “everything” in your life. Every situation and every circumstance has to bow at the name.
John 16:23King James Version (KJV)
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Philippians 2:9-10King James Version (KJV)There is also a confidence we must have in God. We have to pray God’s word and God’s will. For if we pray His word and His will … the Bible says that He hears us and if we know He hears us, we can be confident that He will honor our petitions.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
1 John 5:14-15King James Version (KJV)
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Take time today to meditate on God’s word. Understanding that prayer is learned through knowledge and experience. Also understand the power in the name of Jesus and the importance of going to the Father in the name. Lastly, remember God wants you confident and that confidence is based on praying God’s word and His will. Amen.
